Porous, Superelastic NiTi Produced by Powder-Metallurgy
Near-stoichiometric NiTi was foamed in the solid state at elevated temperatures through creep expansion of highpressure argon pores previously entrapped during powder consolidation. A sample with 17% porosity was found to be superelastic up to a compressive stress of 800 MPa.
متن کاملLubricant Pyrolysis During Sintering of Powder Metallurgy Compacts
The chemistry surrounding the pyrolysis of N,NЈ-ethylenebisstearimide (EBS) compacted with iron powder is described for the first time. Heat treatment is carried out in a 5 vol pct hydrogen atmosphere (balance nitrogen) over the 100 °C to 850 °C range. The exhaust from the furnace is monitored by Fourier transform infrared and dispersive ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy; condensable material...
متن کاملModeling and Simulation of Press and Sinter Powder Metallurgy
EFFECTIVE COMPUTER SIMULATIONS of metal powder compaction and sintering are at the top of the powder metallurgy industry’s wish list. There is much anticipated advantage to such efforts, yet there are problems that will inhibit widespread implementation. Press-sinter powder metallurgy computer simulations currently focus on the use of minimal input data to help with process setup. Although the ...
متن کاملIntroduction to the Additive Manufacturing Powder Metallurgy Supply Chain
The supply chain for metal powders used in additive manufacturing (AM) is currently experiencing exponential growth and with this growth come new powder suppliers, new powder manufacturing methods and increased competition. The high number of potential supply chain options provides AM service providers with a significant challenge when making decisions on powder procurement. This paper provides...
